Experience
Steel Industry
I worked for more than 6 years in Production & Maintenance Engineering roles the steel industry in Texas, including running multi-million-dollar industrial equipment projects.
While the large budget projects sound impressive, I’m most proud of some of the smaller projects we did to identify and creatively solve the root causes of painful operational problems at minimal cost and create substantial value for our customers.
It was during this time that I fell in love with Lean principles and how to use them in my engineering and project management work to make my projects easier to run and add more value to my customers.
Skills
Need-Finding & Value Creation
I gained a reputation in my industrial plant for taking operational pain points and turning them into actionable projects with tangible business targets, finding funding for them, and getting it done.
Data-Based Stakeholder Engagement
How do you take a mountain of schedule, cost, and performance data and turn it into useful information for specific stakeholders with unique concerns? You make sure you understand exactly what their concerns are, and you use your data to speak to them directly. I can help with that.
Lean Project Management
Lean principles make our projects easier to run, reduces wasted time and effort, makes our teams happier to work with us, and helps us create more value for our customers. I envision you’ll hear a lot about that on this blog.
Education
Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering – Texas A&M University
Earned a solid foundation in engineering fundamentals principles and strategic planning through coursework and research experience at a renowned engineering-focused university. Studied abroad at campus in Doha, Qatar. Led my first engineering projects, which were a complete disaster!
Graduate Coursework – University of Pennsylvania
Focused on using automated tools to model complex processes in energy systems. Led my next engineering projects, which were slightly less of a disaster.
